Ms. Dowden is a 2007 graduate of Friendswood High School. She was a member of the Friendswood Wranglerettes, participated in choir, and was also a member of a local competitive dance team.
She accepted a dance scholarship to Blinn College where she was a team member of the Blinn College Treasures. Ms. Dowden served as Captain her sophomore year, receiving a full scholarship. She graduated with honors in 2009 with an Associate of Arts.
Ms.Dowden continued her education at Stephen F. Austin State University where she became a member of the award winning SFA Pom Squad. She again received scholarships for dance and became a Captain her senior year. She enjoyed the opportunity to compete on the university level with both dance and choreography. In addition to her work with the dance team, she was also involved in the dance department. Her senior piece was chosen to be adjudicated at the American College Dance Festival Association as well as the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance convention. She graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Dance and a minor in Business. After graduation, she received a scholarship from Stephen F. Austin State University's dance program to attend the Dance and Child International convention where she represented the University's dance department.
She completed her student teaching at Clear Lake High School where she worked with the dance program. Ms. Dowden came to Clear Falls High School in the Spring of 2012 as a long-term substitute teacher in the dance department. She became the Assistant Director in the Fall of 2012. Ms. Dowden was named the Head Director in the Fall of 2014 and looks forward to continuing her wonderful journey with the enchanting Emeralds.
Ms. Schaaf was born and raised here in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Lutheran South Academy in 2008 where she was involved in the arts, athletics, and outside dance. She dedicated most of her time to her high school dance team, the Strutters, where she served as an officer all 4 years and then finishing as Colonel her senior year.
Ms. Schaaf went on to Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas where she served as an internationally famous Tyler Junior College Apache Belle. During her 2 years in Tyler she had the honor to serve as Freshmen Representative and then Head Dance Captain her sophomore year. She received scholarships for both years during her time as a belle for both leadership roles she held. She also served as a member of the Elite Dance Squad for the Apache Belles both years doing extra performances and appearances. During her time on Apache Belles Ms. Schaaf worked for Danceline Dance Company working summer camps, private camps, and competitions doing choreography, team bonding activities, and leadership seminars.
Ms. Schaaf finished her college career at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas where she served as a member of the award winning SFA Pom squad for 2 years. Receiving dance scholarships during her time there and becoming Captain her senior year. Also during her time at SFA she worked as an orientation leader for the university during the summer to prepare incoming freshmen. She did her student teaching in CCISD at Clear Creek High school working with the dance department and choreographing for the musical “Grease” during her time there.
Ms. Schaaf graduated Cum Lau with a Bachelors of Science, specializing in Dance and minoring in Special Education. After graduation Ms. Schaaf went on to Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas. She served as a long-term Substitute dance and aerobic teacher and Assistant dance team director for the Sterling Stars in the spring 2014. Ms. Schaaf has made her way back to CCISD and is excited to start a new year with the Emeralds and seeing what the future brings here at Clear Falls High School!
